Thank you for visiting Deaf Women of Oregon and Washington (DWOW) website. DWOW, an non-profit organization, was established in 2006 in order to prepare the upcoming Deaf Women United (DWU) conference, which will be held in Portland, Oregon on July 22nd to 26, 2009.

The DWU Conference Planning Committee are now offering the state of Oregon's Landmark Tour Addeums! The following tours are:

Wednesday, July 22nd: Mount St. Helens Trip - $40 person

Thursday, July 23rd: Multnomah Falls Trip - $25 person

Friday, July 24th:
Oregon Museum of Science & Industry Trip - $20 person

Our guide will be our own Keynote Speaker, Miriam Richards!

Deaf Women United Conference 2009 Registration


NOTE: Registration has been CLOSED.


CURRENT REGISTRATION: Registration rate is $300 for DWU/DWOW members, $350 for non-members, and $275 for Seniors 62+/Students with IDs by June 1st, 2009

LATE REGISTRATION INFO: Starting June 2nd, it will be $325 for members and $375 for non-members, and $300 for Seniors 62+/Students with IDs. The DEADLINE is June 30th. You can pay by check or by paypal.

WHY SHOULD YOU GO? This is an excellent time to mingle with deaf and hard of hearing women all over the USA and Canada! This four day conference will offer great workshops, entertainment and a lunch cruise. Miriam Richards, the deaf mountain climber, will be our keynote speaker. Come an be inspired by her courageous attempt to climb all 50 high points in the USA, despite having Ms. Pinky Aiello and Ruthie Jordan will be our entertainers, as well as a special performance by the Deaf Women Pioneer Troupe. You can also enjoy an interpreted lunch cruise along the Columbia River.

One-Day Deaf Women Professional Workshop

What if you just want to be part of conference for ONE DAY? YES!!!! If you want to get the taste of the the Deaf Women United conference -- you have an opportunity to be part of the Deaf Women Professional workshop on Wednesday, July 22nd at 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm for only $40.00! This is a great way for you to get the idea of what the Deaf Women United conference will be like! Please download the updated registration form and circle $40 under pre-conference worklshop.

Red Lion Hotel

Hotel Location: The DWU 2009 conference will be located at Red Lion Inn-Jantzen Beach on the Columbia River in Portland Oregon. The address is 909 N. Hayden Island Drive, Portland, OR 97217

RATES:
The hotel rates are:$109.00/night for Single/Double and$129.00 for Triple/Quad (3-4 people).

BOOK THE ROOM!
There are only 75 rooms reserved for DWU attendees so be sure to reserve your stay as soon as possible. The hotel will require a credit card and one night’s deposit (refundable for cancellations up to 3 days before the first night of your stay).

Reservation line:
You may reserve your hotel room by calling 503-283-4466 or 1-800-Red-Lion. Please give the hotel the conference code DEAF WOMEN UNITED to receive your reduced conference rate. To see this beautiful hotel, situated on the Columbia River, go to their website.

Shuttle Transportation: The Red Lion has a shuttle service from approximately 6 am to 10 pm daily, however, you may want to call the hotel to reserve a shuttle and make sure you have transportation to the airport.

Please reserve your airline ticket to arrive in Portland, Oregon (PDX), which is approximately 10 minutes away from the hotel.
