Miriam Richards, Chair
Miriam is currently teaching sign
language at Western Oregon University,
a soccer referee, a multiple sclerosis
(M.S.) advocate, and writing a
book "Highpoint to Persistence”
that will be released this summer.
Her main hobby is outdoor activities.
Last year, Miriam completed her
dream of climbing the highest
peak from each of the 50 states.
She even reached the summit of
Alaska’s Mt. McKinley! She
did this to raise money and awareness
for M.S. Miriam lives in Corvallis.
Kim Clemenhagen, Vice-Chair
Kim is a full-time nationally
certified speech-language pathologist
in the North Clackamas School
District. Married 7 years to husband
Curt, Kim is a proud mother of
sons, Grant and Ryan. Kim is a
graduate of Western Oregon State
College (now WOU) with B.S. and
M.S. Degrees in Education. Kim
and her family live in Milwaukie,
having moved from Vancouver last
fall. She is currently planning
and decorating her new home. The
Clemenhagens love to fish, hunt,
and camp together! Kim is also
a new member of Deaf Power Walkers
and will participate in the Portland
to Coast walk in August 2007.
Damara Paris, Secretary
Damara is currently the
Oregon Account Administrator for
Sprint Relay. She is a graduate
of Western Oregon University with
a M.S. Degree in Rehabilitative
Counseling. She also holds a Certificate
of Public Management from Willamette
University. Damara’s hobbies
are cross-stitching, collecting
Native American art, researching
genealogy, reading, and swimming.
She is married and a proud mom
of a daughter. As the founder
of DWOW, Damara is also the 2007
OAD Conference chairperson, AND
the national chairperson for the
2009 DWU Conference to be held
in Portland. Damara has never
missed a conference since 1995.
She has served on the national
board from 1997-2003. She is thrilled
and determined to make the Portland
DWU Conference the best of them
all.
Colleen Thayer, Treasurer
Colleen
grew up in Bellingham, Washington,
and moved to Oregon ten years
ago. She is doing contract work
and gigs for certified Deaf interpreting,
substitute teaching ASL classes,
and childcare. Colleen is a preschool
mom mainly involved with her children’s
activities for indoor parks in
Salem. She is treasurer for two
different organizations, will
be starting a VP membership role
for South Salem’s Mom’s
Club. Colleen has two daughters,
Sasha, almost 3, and Lila, 7 months.
Although she is busy with hearing
organizations, Colleen is very
excited to be part of DWOW.
Lindsay
Buchko, Board Member
Lindsay is an Industrial Engineer
at Intel. She has a Master’s
Degree of Science in Quality Applied
Statistics, and a Bachelor’s
Degree of Science in Industrial
Engineering from Rochester Institute
of Technology. Lindsey moved to
Portland from Chicago during the
summer of 2005. In addition to
her position on the DWOW Board,
she is on the committee for Deaf
Professional Happy Hour (DPHH).
She looks forward to becoming
more involved with deaf organizations
and events in the area.

Mandy Hays, Board Member
Mandy
is from Hillsboro, Oregon. She
is proud to be a DWOW board member,
and looks forward to being involved
in strengthening our female deaf
community. She is also the president
of NWKODA. Married almost 15 years,
Mandy is the mother of Jimmy and
Madeline. She works as an ASL
instructional assistant for North
Marion Primary, as well as a caseworker
for deaf developmentally delayed
clients. Her hobbies include sewing,
crocheting, and socializing.
Ginny Burt Kimbro,
Board Member
Ginny is urrently self-employed
as a property manager and interior
designer for Kimbrough Leasing,
LLC and Kimbro Industrial Services,
LLC. Received a Specialist Interior
Design Furnishing degree at Portland
Community College and Portland
State University. Hobbies are
spending time with her family,
short term mission traveling,
photography, scrapbooking and
art. Relationship Status: Married
with three children.

Helen A. Keller
Margi
Morgan, Board Member
Margi
is currently working as Adult
Foster Home provider and as the
President of Oregon Association
of the Deaf. She is involved with
raising funds for Miss Deaf Oregon
Pageant, OAD, and DWOW. She holds
a AA Degree from Seattle Central
Community College. She is married
to Robert and has been for 33
years. Her hobbies are collecting
antiques, traveling, hiking, reading,
scrap booking, and someday she
would like to learn to quilt.
Shelley Oishi, Board Member
Shelley
proudly hails from Canada. She
is an RIT alumni with a BFA in
Graphic Design along with an Associates
in Interior Design. Shelly moved
to Oregon 6 years ago and graduated
with a M.S. Degree in Rehabilitation
Counseling for the Deaf from Western
Oregon University. She is currently
working for DART as an advocate
with prior experience as a mental
health counselor and job developer.
Her hobbies are traveling, art,
and being with her family. She
is married and a mom to three
children ages, 6,4,and 2.
Lisa
Peters, Board Member
Lisa
is currently employed as a Mental
Health Therapist for Deaf families
and adults in a community mental
health clinic. She has a B.S.
Degree in Humanities, and a M.S.
in Counseling at Western Oregon
University. Lisa obtained a school
counseling licensure through the
State of Oregon after receiving
a second M.S. in School Counseling
at Lewis and Clark College. Her
hobbies are collecting cooking
recipes (vegan), walking, and
biking. Lisa went to two DWU conferences:
NJ in 1993, and in Seattle in
1995. Lisa is enjoying her family
life with her 6 year-old son and
husband, Charles Peters.
Michelle Weimer, Board
Member
Michelle graduated at
Gresham High school in Oregon
in 1983. She attended various
colleges but never got a degree,
She was a former employee of CRP
(Columbia Regional Program) as
an teacher's assistant for Deaf/HH
children and as an ASL consultant
for hearing parents .She is currently
a full-time Domestic Engineer
for 8 years. She is married 13
years to a wonderful man, 3 beautiful
children, ages 10, 8 and 3. Her
hobbies include reading, gardening,
play the piano, play games especially
with her children and drink vanilla
chai tea latte with a friend or
her hubby. She was also a former
Pampered Chef consultant, Former
Co-leader for MOMS (mom offering
mom support), and current Co-leader
of Life group.
